A popular adage says; bad company corrupts good manners taking the discourse up from this opening assertion, if follow then that keeping bad company in general can never bear any good fruit. It is even more devastating in a school environment. The dangers inherent in this practice can assume a quite alarming magnitude. Below are some of the devastating consequences of keeping bad company.

First, it causes an unimaginable loss of focus on the primary aim of going to school. This itself has the tendency to scuttle one’s career. Most times, the bad company wields very strong influence on the personality of a child.

Secondly, keeping bad company as a child leads to the loss of morals. Losing morals as a child has the tendency to sharpen the personality of the child even after leaving school. It has been argued that some of or most of our incurably corrupt leaders had their morals dented while at school. This is because the bad company has completely changed their orientation from say; altruistic to self-aggrandizement.

Furthermore, keeping bad company can wreak havoc on the mental health of the child. Indeed, several children have become patients in psychiatric hospitals across the world on account of being addicted hard drugs. Usually, it takes both medical and spiritual ware fares to salvage them.

Finally, keeping bad company may ruin a child’s chances of holding important positions in future. This is because those who witness his anti-progressive engagements at school will always be there to expose his misdemeanor.
